www.meat.org

Wow... There's a video right on the front page when you go here...

I agree with the entire video. The meat industry as it stands is a sickness

But anyone who makes a video like that should not be taking ANY pharmaceuticals in my opinion, I can bet most of PETA is ok with Pharma companies, which hurt, and have hurt animals equally, if not more than the CURRENT meat industry. So if you agree with PETA and this video, than you should NEVER touch ANYTHING from a Pharmaceutical company or any subsidiary of them.

Acetaminophen raises Asthma risks!

I found this article in the Calgary Herald Nov 24th 2011. I cut it out right away because I knew articles such as this won't make it to press a second time, especially if Johnson&Johnson have their way.

An Ohio doctor is warning people of medical studies linking rising/worsening rates of asthma to acetaminophen use. Actually it's interesting because in the 1980s doctors were urging people to stop taking aspirin because of the risk of developing Reye syndrome, which can be life threatening. So since then most people started giving their children acetaminophen. Over the past 30 years researchers couldn't figure out why asthma rates were always rising at an alarming rate. A study published in a British medical journal Lancet found six to seven year olds were 1.6 times more likely to develop asthma if they took acetaminophen more then once per year but less than once per month. For those that took the medicine at least once a month, the risk was triple. Here is the original article in all it's glory;

Monkeys in Advertising

I love to see monkeys used in advertising. I was sitting at the lights the other day right beside Minit Lube, which is a company that uses a monkey as part of it's main logo/theme. The picture on the sign is of a monkey in mid-stride, wearing mechanics overalls and holding a tray with various oil filters on it. I thought it was funny to see anthropomorphism being used for the people working on your car. Don't the workers there realize the owners are calling them all monkeys?

Today I received a letter from Telus trying to sell me cable TV. I laughed to myself when I saw they included coasters in the envelope as part of their advertising campaign, they wrote in the ad along with the coasters: "Enjoy your favourite flavour of beverage with a coaster that fits your TV watching style." and it had pictures of a monkey, or a couple monkeys in various poses; one with a football for sports peop.... I mean \monkey, one of a monkey watching a fish bowl for nature people, one of two monkeys looking frightened, and one of a monkey holding a Russian matryoshka probably signifying drama... Again, no one sees that the corporate executives and advertisers are basically calling everyone a monkey? That's what it seems like to me...

And tell me that's not a sexually suggestive photo of the monkey with the football... lol

Universal Seasons

Is it possible that global warming isn't fueled by burning of fossil fuels or deforestation as much as maybe our solar system moving through the different seasons of the Milky Way?

Upon further investigation, the entire Milky Way galaxy has a rotational rate of 1 for every 15- 50 million years.  The Galactic Center of the Milky Way has also been notoriously hard to measure with some estimates of it's placement spanning over 1 kpc(Kiloparsecs). One Galactic year is approximately 225-250 million years. Our last ice age started ending approximately 110 000 years ago. So isn't it possible our Solar System, or even our Milky Way galaxy is moving closer to a tropical time and as a result ending our last Ice Age?

Finally finished my Spousal Immigration forms!

I met a woman whom I figured out is my soul mate. She lives in Iran, but because I was born there I can't visit her or I risk having to fulfill my mandatory army requirements that country has. So we decided to meet in Austria, my mothers home country. We married on July 1st during our first ever one month meeting. It was heaven for both of us, but soon the trip had to end due to my work obligations. We both went back to our countries but over the next few months we kept trying to get her a tourist visa to Canada. Having been denied two tourist visa's for her to visit me our only option left was to start the permanent residency application for spouses residing outside of Canada.
I spent two months putting this gigantic application together. I must of spent the first few weeks just researching on what this process entails and how I am going to organize my application. So I decided to make a short Youtube video showing how I put the application together explaining each section from front to back. I thought if I could help shorten the process in anyway for anyone else it would be a good thing :)

I sent the application off the very same day I made this video, October 26th 2011. It is supposed to take about 13 months to process this application from the Canadian governments Damascus, Syria office. Hopefully I have included enough evidence in the application that they won't even ask for a interview, cause it would be a nightmare if they did. She would have to travel from Iran to Syria just for the interview, and I would never let her go alone so I would have to make the trip as well.

Here's the Video, enjoy:

And here is me and my wife Shima Pahlavan on our wedding day:

Pharmaceuticals bad for you? No!!!

Pharmaceuticals can't be bad for you, can they??? An article in the Calgary Herald titled "Sleeping pills can increase risk of early death, study suggests" made me chuckle...

Uncontrollable Weather Controls Mood

I was standing at an all inclusive resort bar in Dominican Republic just a few hours after arriving in that tropical paradise. My second time ever out of Canada/to a resort. Both within a month. I was on cloud nine, so imagine my surprise when a woman walked up with her luggage, slammed it down, and started shouting about how horrible her vacation was due to the inclement weather. I turned a little bit in the other direction avoiding eye contact and not wanting to get pulled into her tirade or share some of the bad energy she was giving off.It was her last day at the resort, thankfully, but I still couldn't believe how she acted. I mean you're in a beautiful tropical paradise. The rain is part of the package in my opinion. And you can always just dress for the weather, and still go enjoy almost all the same things as you would or could when it's sunny out, except for lying on the beach drinking margaritas. And that's all that lady wanted to do, get a tan and get drunk all week. And she wasn't able to accomplish it, so it ruined her whole experience.

It's interesting how something totally out of our control has such a large control on our mood.

I Hate Apple

I'm in the middle of watching Walter Isaacson's interview where he is talking about his book "Steve Job's".

I hate Apple for making a product that is almost as disposable as the yellow Bic razor's you can find at your local store.

Why doesn't everyone see the problem with a product that doesn't have a accessible battery that you can change after it has worn out? Batteries don't last forever. The electronics will always outlast the battery.

I love the interview. What a great video. What a great man. But why are the Ipods/Ipads so disposable???

STOP USING SO MANY BATTERIES

Just a quick thought....
I bought a nice set of cordless phones, one base and a few satellite phones hooked off it. Within a year the batteries started failing.... A new set of batteries is more then the whole set of phones. At that point I just recycled my phones, and bought two $10 Walmart phones. If I need, I'll get a 50ft extension cord. These phones could last me forever:)

I haven't bought a cordless mouse in years for the same reason. Why would I want to deal with a dead battery when a USB hookup will never let me down?

Prices of batteries keep going up because there are some rare metals involved in making them, and if we aren't careful the prices will soon be so prohibitive we will wonder why we wasted so many batteries in the past.

Black Garbage Carts

The black garbage carts are coming to my neighbor hood this week. I wonder if I can fit my old garbage cans in it?? Or do they go in the recycle bin? What a great idea, to render hundreds of thousands of garbage cans, how can I put this, garbage! Not only that but a truck that usually held three or more people to collect our garbage/drive the truck can now be manned by one person(Video game skillz necessary). I guess the other two people just have to find another job doing something else when they are laid off.... Same thing is happening with self checkouts, a few cashiers are replaced by one, controlling multiple tills. Jobs are getting more scarce, but prices keep going up.

A Quote I Read Recently...

A quote I read the other day that I felt was really powerful. Unfortunately I don't know who said it first....

People always say, what's in it for me? When they should say, How can I serve you?
